Add Events that Occurred in the Past

I use events for my internal team schedule, and sometimes we have changes that we need to document for historical accuracy. Currently the system doesn't allow us to create an event for a past date, and we can't edit existing events to occur in the past either.
This is a huge issue for us, so we have to create a new event for the wrong date and put the correct details in the title so we can have it for future reference.
It would be much more efficient to be able to create an event in the past - give a warning prompt to confirm it, but to still allow it.
