Better Native Video Upload & Limit Increase
complete
Coach Jeremy Choi
I have found a bunch of suggestions that were similar but fragmented as they didn't cover all the issues.
CATEGORY: Featured Request
APPLIES TO: Threads and Chats, and ideally in the future COURSES/DOCS/EVENTS.
---
PROBLEM 1: Right now, in Heartbeat, we have a limit of 10mb per upload. That is like a 5 seconds video if that.
CONTEXT: Whatsapp, Slack, any other messaging/thread platform, they allow you to upload sizes of maximum 2gb, but they compress the video down to like 50-100mb so the quality is much lower.
If you think on average a mobile video camera shooting 1080p, it is about 5mb per second, so in a 30 seconds video, your video file would be about 150mb. But most of us, can easily shoot a 30 seconds video (and its pretty common).
SOLUTION 1: Increase video limit size to 1gb, but compress the video down.
---
PROBLEM 2: Unable to upload video via Mobile App. And if you try to upload a file too big, it will just be stuck (grey circle) just stops and you can't cancel it either.
CONTEXT: Most videos are taken via their phones, so on the mobile app, we need to be able to upload it.
SOLUTION 2: Fix the ability the upload videos (larger files) from the mobile phone. And put in the percentage (%) completion when uploading so that the user sees that it is working versus waiting for a long time, and it just being crashed (or file too big, it doesn't display or tell you the error).
Add a cancel button or link just in case they are uploading the wrong video accidentally.

Nick Barba Good new! So members can now post videos of any size in the community? If we have a max of 50h how can I manage this?
Nick Barba
Catherine Mathieu Right now, native video upload is for admins only. But we're open to adding this for members in the future once we have a better idea of how the feature is used by admins :)

Nick BarbaDid the base amt change at all? Is the free version still left with 10mb?
Nick Barba
Ed Ferrigan The new file upload limit across platform outside of native video is 100MB (for non-video files) and 10MB (for video files).

📹 Better self-hosted video events
Adrian Rodriguez
* A more stable and reliable video call solution inside Heartbeat.
* A more immersive live video experiences (fit to screen/half screen meeting, not just a little video box).
* Being able to previously choose the type of call between: live event, live room or live stream.
* Use live streams to broadcast webinar-like events, with the possibility to have real engagement in real-time (comment, react, share emojis, gifs inside the call).
* Automatic recording to those selected events.
Also, it's a little confusing that Video rooms are also named Voice Rooms. Maybe separate each other or use another name?
Thanks in advance!

In my courses I have resources that people need to download and use in order to follow along with the lessons. 10mb is nothing: even 200mb would be helpful.

Using my mobile device for the entire experience speeds things up considerably so hope that is included in the solution here.

We really need to have better upload limits for both photos and videos.
Max video upload of only 10MB is really shockingly low and embarrassing if you ask me. If this is not increased, it defeats the purpose of even establishing anything on this platform.

Hi! I see that this request was made in December of last year, so it's not that old, but I was wondering if the HB team has taken into consideration this request? I would love for us to have the possibility to upload videos bigger than the 10 MB capacity.
