Events: Make email notifications for NEW events optional

Add a toggle on the Event creation page were the creator can elect to send/not send out an email to users upon creation of the event.
This would be useful because in our community we have multiple recurring, basic events that we don't need to alert the whole community when we add 15 a month. But then we have special events that we want to make people aware of, so then we would elect to send an email when that event is created.

This update is not Completed.
This happened today:
I had to change the dates of a recurring event (could only change it manually for each individual occurrence as recurring edits to the date are not possible).
An email was sent for every update and where I had to correct a correction, the emails were sent out again even though the "update guests" toggle remains unchecked.
This is very unpleasant to customers and is a bit embarrassing on my side.
(Also, the emails are still not displaying correctly in Outlook)

Yes, please do not send an automatic email to members every time an event is created. Sometimes I want to batch create events weeks ahead of time, including recurring events. I want to choose how many days ahead of the event to send them an email about the event, and then have my members get the reminders.

I just saw the new toggle when adding a test event today. Thanks guys!

Misty Dorman: The toggle for Require RSVPs has been there. I believe that function adds the event to calendars for people who have integrated their calendar. It doesn't have in impact on new emails. That's still work in progress.
Misty Dorman
Bill Szabrak: really? Users can integrate their calendar? How?
Bill Szabrak
Misty Dorman: My mistake. It's been a minute since I configured stuff, and it's just the admin calendar that is synced. My apologies for the mistake. I looked through all the Events training, and the only video that includes it in the screen share is the "Setting up your first event" video (https://vimeo.com/668216004), but he skips over what that field does. If we're not syncing our own calendars, I'm not sure how it automatically adds it to a calendar outside of sending an email for people to add it.
Misty Dorman
Bill Szabrak: it's a little confusing for sure.

Also I don't "love" that all events are automatically added to people's events even if they don't register. Can we turn that off?
Marissa Loewen
We need to make this a priority. I get 30+ mails from all the heartbeat communities in already and I can't bear the thought of what my community members get.
Also when they JOIN the community for the first time they get ALL of the event invites BAM in their email right away. It's super overwhelming for folks and people are turning off the alerts from the get go so we are defeating the purpose of having the awesome alerts
Misty Dorman
Marissa Loewen: for sure this would leave a sour taste in new members' mouths getting a poo-ton of emails right after they join.

Marissa Loewen: I agree! Only major complaint I've received from multiple people so far

Marissa Loewen Mayhul Arora Murtaza Bambot is this issue handled with this update? Can we now stop new folks from receiving a separate email for every scheduled event when they join the community?

Yes please!!
