My community is one that will want to meet up regularly and even pet-sit for eachother. Location based features like "Filter Posts by Nearest Location", or even a Map view that lets people comment a location based post would be incredible features.

You can now enable location geo-tagging for new and existing members. Go to Settings > Onboarding Setup and enable "Location" in any onboarding profiles you'd like to include it in. Click save. This will ask new members joining the community where they are located.
After enabling this setting in onboarding, all existing members will also be able to add their geo-location by going to Settings > My Account
Keeping this request open since we will be rolling out additional updates to this new feature over time :)

We've added an option to display member locations on their profile, which will be visible in profile popups as well as the directory! Go to Admin Settings > General Settings and check the Location box under "User Fields" to enable this!

Hello i just did that so my new members will be able to inform their location. But when i went to my account i couldnt active location for myself. So that means old members can't activate location ? thanks for your answer Charlotte

For this geo-location feature, can I request to be able to update this through the API (we have members updating their profile on our own website, which syncs to Heartbeat).

Community is all about connections. Virtual and real.
It would be tremendously valuable for a member to have the option to identify other members nearby.
As geoloc could be tricky, this could be based on declared location for each member (or group membership)

Please, please, please!!! I would love there to be a world map feature in Heartbeat where the cities/locations of all people in the group are automatically pinned when they join. This feature is currently available in Luma and it's so helpful for seeing who lives near you and for organising in person meet ups etc.

We have solved it by creating a thread called "Find A Friend". People post where they are and ask if someone wants to connect. The thread is very popular and very active.
We are an international community. Here is a suggestion for a simple solution: Create a way for people to choose nationality when they create a profile. By doing so, their country flag shows by their name permanently. Just putting it out there...
