Assign more than one role to a member

In complex communities, assigning two roles to the same member could be interesting.

Imagine a community with members and students together where they can only access specific channels.

A user could be a member of the community and a student of any course, but we only can assign them one role. Right now, we only can create a third role, "Member-Student," but that complicates everything considering that we might need to change their roles in the future using automation.

    Hi Daniel - you may find a better solution using Groups to control access to content in your community, rather than roles. Roles are better suited for controlling permissions in the community (managing users, creating courses, moderation, etc.). Groups are better for controlling access to channels, docs, and courses in the community. Check out this helpful article on groups: https://help.heartbeat.chat/en/articles/7049017-groups

      Nick Barba: Thanks Nick. I've been testing how to use groups in my specific case, but it's not a perfect solution either, when you want to create a community with two separated parts (members vs students) when you don't want students to participate in members groups and viceversa.
