assignment as a comment and not as a post in a channel
Hello, i'm a learning community and taking action is one of my priority for my students. we're an art school so our student post a lot. They have regular training and share the work they do on each training. I have approximately 200 different trainings so unless everything is mixed up in one or two channels, i would need to create 200 channels which is just overwhelming. I would like my students to share their work by commenting posts and not by creating a post in a channel. As soon as this is setup i would be able to move all my courses to heartbeat : )

hello everyone thanks for your encouragement and ideas.
I'm not using courses in heartbeat yet only threads.. because of this reason. All my trainings have their own posts directly embed in my courses. they are available directly in my curriculum to encourage student to take action and avoid friction to have them look for the right spot to post. The whole idea also is that they can have a look at what others did for the same training so their posts are not only for me and my fellow teacher.. they can post directly within the course (image 1) . and they can see what others did (image 2) .
there would just be posts everywhere if i didnt use this system and they wouldnt be linked together.
I found a way though for now. my courses are on thinkific and my posts in heartbeat and i created these pinned posts at the head of my channel to help my student find the right place to post when they use the mobile app (image 3)
it works well, it 's just that it s not considered as a complete assignment. and that's too bad : )
i think my idea is not that particular and may help many teachers like me to be more organized : )
FYI we're a small artschool with only 200 students and clearly are not a big "level" yet

Perhaps you can group your assignments or ask students to mark each assignment with a #nameofassignment for easy search and referencing functionality.
I am not too sure if Heartbeat has this function, but I know Mighty Networks have this. I am in a large community there and each time I susbit my assignment I must include the #nameofassignment. This could also be a # of what the assignment refences to in the exercises.
Perhaps Murtaza may know more about this type of referencing functionality.

I think you’re not using Heartbeat right. If you have one channel, every student can comment in the same channel. That’s how it work by default. Maybe I don’t understand you.

Albert Kinng: It is not a matter of the students commenting in one channel for the OP, it is a matter of they have over 200 different trainings and each training has its own channel for lesson feedback so it gets overwhelming. I understand because we do 12 week Bible studies and each week has multiple response questions. Even if I do one channel for all the responses for week 1, that still ends up with 12 channels for one study. As we add more studies those 12 separate channels keeps multiplying.

Antonisha Polite Peoples: ok. I see the issue now. The issue here then is that you have 200 trainings as channels. Here’s my advice: block comments on your training channels and open a channel just for that using a permalink on the training channels. That way all comments will be just in one channel and you can work with those comments there. You can even categorize the commenters as well that way.
