Display uploaded pdfs as a link (currently inline embed)

I have just moved across to Hearbeat from using Wordpress dev our our website and am setting up our courses. We use lots of pdf handouts and want to have these held within Heartbeat in the Courses section rather than as links to external storage locations (e.g. Dropbox, Wordpress site). Unfortunately the default behaviour is to "inline embed" the pdf when loaded. I would like the option to choose whether the pdf is displayed as a link to the pdf within Heartbeat (on the Amazon WS storage), or embedded, i.e. displayed as an inline pdf.
