I like the idea of having more push "announcements" whether that is via DM to everybody or another format. It's important to be able to cut through threads and reach communities with relevant and timely (sometimes even urgent) communications in an efficient way.

Why would you need to DM them if you don't want the response from them? A better solution would be to post it in any of your channels and tag them e.g. hello @ user (that would tag all).
You can also change the user tag to something else for example I'm using "Family" so when I post and "Attention @family" or Hey @family, it tags everyone.
I think the best option is to be able to DM everyone as an admin and have a conversation, but members to not be able to DM each other, this way the conversations would take place in the channels rather than private

Saif Al Rawahi: Thank you Safi for your suggestion. At the moment we have 713 users in our community, and we are growing every day. It is a lot of activity every day too, and people in general dont reflect - they just respond. The message in DM to everybody gets lost in all the replies. We have off course renamed the user tag, but when people are on their phones (most people are) they dont notice the tag - they just respond.
Every now and then, the need to reach everybody with an urgent message occurs. We have tried every solution we could think of to get urgent messages through. The DM to everybody is by far the best option to reach everybody (not even pinned posts on the landing page has the same effect). The way it is set up now, it creates a lot of work for the admins, and a lot of confusion for the users. It is a real issue!
We understand others might like it just the way it is :)

This is absolutely essential. Because I have not be able to disable this function, the development of my community ground to a halt months ago.

As long as this can be turned off… I personally HATE group chats and always either leave them or turn notifications off. I especially hate it when people add me to a chat that I have not agreed to be added to.

Rita Viana: with DM you have 95% of people clicking on your link. Same as when you send bomroadcasts in Facebook messenger.channel is like a group.. between all the comments and posts, people will miss your announcement as admin
