Facebook-like first name @ tagging

On Facebook when you @ tag someone it defaults to their full name, but with a single backspace you can remove their surname and the tagging still works. Using @firstname is a much more friendly way to speak to people you know rather than @firstname lastname. Can this be implemented on HB please.
