Limit Directory View By Group
It would be great if we can limit the directory view by groups so my free group members or my specific course group members only see their cohort and not ALL of my members.
Also can we choose which labels are showing in the directory? Right now all group labels show automatically. I would like to assign group names as public or private

Please, do the same for the right sidebar. Group members only see members of the own group(s) and not ALL members (and this everywhere).

How about an option where we can hide/unhide the right sidebar where all the other users even in the same group are listed (at least at the group level). In my business model, it is not really smart that any other user sees other users. And also the "Online Now" count is not needed at least in the use cases like mine.
I see patients and it is not practical that patients know about the presence of other patients in the group or even platform as well.
It is important for my use case ( and many others like mine). I even refunded this a few days back and then again purchased it back (because the platform is such an amazing one!), and hoping you guys will also take care of the request.

I’d love to be able to create directories of individual groups rather than showing ALL members. Due to the nature of our business (dealing with trauma) we want our groups to have a high degree of privacy and to enable individual users to opt in or out of the directories.

For those who did want to leave some groups visible, it would be awesome for users to be able to also filter the directory by group, so they can find other users with a particular interest.

Misty Dorman: Yes, to begin with a filter on group would be great. But then also on location (similar to the“Near me” discovery that the mighty competitor has :D).
And for all those more advanced functionalities that encourage tight knit connections along members, I taste a great user need for turning these more on/off at both group and full community level (ideally even with an override on the individual user level..).
This fine granularity will help immensely to accommodate all use-cases of people that are considering Heartbeat and, hopefully, win them over for MRR.

I would love more control over the directory access/visibility too - both on a group level but also on an individual member level.
Each member should be able to choose from a range of options:
These are especially important for those of us who have communities with more sensitive data protection & privacy requirements.

With isolated groups, you are able to limit search, direct messages, the user directory, online status, presence (whether someone is viewing a post, doc, etc.) and @ mentions to only members that are part of the group. This means that members that are not part of the group will not be able to see or interact with any members that are! Nick Barba: I'm not clear that there is the opportunity to simply put in the name of a group and have only those members show up. As of now, when I search a group name in the directory, it's showing anyone who used that name in a post, not everyone who's actually in the group. Is there a way to show a directory for each group?

Mayhul Arora: thats awesome! Are the other requests in this item also on the radar? Namely, limiting “who sees who” and making tags/labels private/public. Or do we have to make separete feature requests for these?
