Make Direct Messages Easier to Find

I would like to see Direct Messages in the left menu instead of hidden as a category under Threads. Right now, it's confusing to find & if you have a lot of categories & threads, there's a lot of scrolling. Also, a more obvious icon to compose a new message & find the recipient by typing in their name would be good instead of having to hover to see the + sign.
