New Custom Sidebar Feature Requests

Feature Requests

I love that we have the ability to change & add to our sidebar now, but have a couple requests:

  1. ability to re-order the items in the sidebar
  2. ability to limit access to people NOT in a group (use case: if someone has not purchased a product, I may want them to see a link to the sales page)
  3. rename "community apps". I think this name may be a little confusing & it could be renamed "community sidebar" or something like that.
  4. ability to have a 2nd level of (nested) links

    Great suggestions, and great update of the v1 of custom sidebar. To add a few improvement requests:

    1. provide a (matching) icon set to replace the default 🔗
    2. option to have custom link open in other ways so that we have 3 options: 1) new tab, 2) same page and 3) embedded inside the main panel of heartbeat (🤩)

    Yes please! Ability to have slightly longer names (like community!) would be great. Very annoying to have it wrap the text.

    I made some changes and noticed that Longer names wrap rather than expands the size of the column, any chance we can make that change? or maybe play with the font size?

    It would be amazing to change the colors or highlight different links or treads in the sidebar.

    I would also love a link in the sidebar to be gated i.e. linked to purchase of an offer. Use case - I'm creating a Q&A Library that members will get but I don't want to give access to everyone. This is a link to a 3rd party site but at moment shows to everyone or has to be hidden away in a course or document which doesn't quite work for people using it regularly. An alternative would be to allow the "nesting" of links as Misty suggests i.e. in a different part of the community. Thankyou!

    I love the new single sidebar but really want to be able to create sections to make it easier for community navigation as I find people get a bit confused where to go so for example I want to create a heading for LEARN, ENGAGE, LINKS - but to do that, I need to be able to move the courses, resources, links into the different areas. Making this more customisable would be brilliant.
