Optimised Onboarding / Register-Experience

The biggest Feedback I get from my and my clients' members is, that the Onboarding is too intrusive.

Here are some of those feedback:

• The Lastname should be optional

• They want to pick their username

• They still get prompted to upload an profile-picture even when is is turned off

• When the Qeustions are enabled: They didn't know that it get's added to the Welcome-Channel or their Profile.

• Not enough Link-Options (and only when onboarding, not on profile itself)

And let some thingk they were scammed at first:

After registerin to our community they got an Email from Heartbat and a name they didn't know or didn't remember they signed up for. That was a very big complaint!

So my suggestion would be:

1. Admins should be able to customize the onboarding even more. Maybe add a message to explain what those questions are or other crucial information like dpa etc.

2. Add a Toggle, so that the Last Name and other Informations can be optional

3. Make it clear, that they also subscribe to the Heartbeat newsletter. Or better even ask if they want to do that

4. Some more custom fields

5. The Scials can be filled out on the Profile later as well.

Anyway, i really love how you manage the Inboarding, it is a great Idea :D
