EDIT: Thanks to Jasmine Parasram for the explanation!
I thought that Heartbeat only allowed us to manage payments for memberships and not for one-time-payment courses or digital products. Jasmine explained that it is possible, with a great example in the comments of this post.
This made me realize that HB could make this process clearer. Currently, the process to create a paid course is to go to:
Admin settings -> Monetization -> Products -> Create product in a box that says "Paid groups" (π€ get it?)
Then you have to choose "Subscription expiration" and "Group setup", which led me to believe that I was, in effect, creating a membership and not necessarily a digital product, like a one-time payment course.
Thanks to Jasmine I know understand how creating a group could work into giving access to a private paid space, and I know it's just a detail that seems silly, but if I had this doubt (for more than a year! π€―) it's possible that more people have it too and it can be solved with better communication or choice of words in the menus.
I know firsthand that if this were communicated better, many online Course Creators would choose Heartbeat over other platforms.
HB should speak to them (myself from 3 years ago) with a strategic speech in reverse: instead of saying "create a community where you can host your courses" it might work better to say "sell your online courses within your own community", or something like that. ππ°
As always, thanks Heartbeat team!
