Public / Private Controls

I'd love to be able to make it more clear to my community what is public and what is private. Sometimes even myself as an administrator don't know how private something is on this platform or any platform for that matter. As some community stuff becomes SEO searchable (in planned roadmap), how can we ensure that our members are more aware of what is public and private?
