User's Post Feed/Archive

What if you could view a list of a particular user's recent posts, an archive of all their posts, and optionally follow and get notified when they post something new? Perhaps this would only apply to a certain "post type" if HeartBeat had something like an "article" post type. I think MightyNetworks does post types like this.
