You can now create your own push notifications to go out automatically (when a user completes an action) or in bulk actions (ex: when you want to promote an upcoming event).
Using Heartbeat Workflows, you can specify how and when the notifications will send; and customize the title, body, and destination upon clicking the notification.
To check this out, go to Settings > Workflows and create a new workflow. After either selecting a template or starting from scratch, select either automated or bulk action. Then, add the action "Send notification". This will send a mobile push notification to members if they have the app downloaded.

You can do this by making a post and tagging @everyone or @users or @groupname. Those who have notifications turned on will get it.

Misty Dorman: thanks! Do you then immediately delete the post? Will the push notification stay?
Misty Dorman
Doug Finkelstein: Yes it would, but if you delete it, they'll be confused when they click the notification & there's no post there. This are some examples of posts I've made.

Misty Dorman: Love it, thanks for sharing! Do you eventually delete these posts, or leave them up? If leaving them up, I imagine you have a specific "announcements" channel than you're having members keep notifications on for?
Misty Dorman
Doug Finkelstein: I never delete them. I do have an announcements area which is where I usually put things like this & then sometimes after an event, I'll post to a discussion thread tagging attendees & thanking them & asking them about their best takeaway or something like that to get some discussion going. If there's a replay link, I'll put it in that post as well.

Misty Dorman: that's awesome. Thank you for detailing for me!
