I've seen feature requests for being able to sort a thread by newest comments first, which would be great.
But, I'd like to request that ANY thread that has new activity gets moved to the top of the section (or atleast an ADMIN option for us to choose this for our own community.) And, after any activity--from the view of the user, that section title in the menu bar turns bold. This will indicate to the user that there is new activity and create more engagement.
Right now, people are commenting on older threads that are buried and unless you're tagged in notifications, they stay buried and nobody knows there is new activity. The section titles do not turn bold unless there is a new post created (not new activity) and people automatically assume nothing has happened since the last time they logged in.
This is why Slack/Discord and other platforms auto turn bold when there is new activity, and why other group platforms like Facebook move most recently active posts to the top.
Then, the notifications can continue to notify users if they've been tagged specifically, but the user will always see when new engagement happens too. This is crucial for maintaining activity in the community.
Thank you!
